@Large Bass it is smart. you've clearly never seen how dogs and wolves hunt and take down larger prey AND predators. wild dogs in Africa do the same thing to male lions. they dart around and attack from all angles trying to flank the backside where they often attack the balls. this is literally why dogs stop and dodge and run sideways and circle.

@MyNickIs Nick Moose have somewhat poor eyesight, but their hearing is great. It paused because it suddenly had a small but very loud animal charging at its legs. Moose may be tough, but they are still prey animals, which is what makes them dangerous. If they perceive you as a threat, they intend to take you out before you have a chance to attack them. The dog was the noisier and closer threat at the moment, so it switched targets. Moose wander into neighbourhoods now and again. It just happens. It’s not an every day occurrence, especially not in more urban cities, but it happens a few times a year in my neighborhood in Calgary. I imagine in smaller towns like cranbrook it must be much more common. The moose just wander in and then wander back out. You leave them alone and use common sense and most of the time you’re ok. There’s not really anything you can do to stop the moose from wandering into residential areas.

@Lykos832f How come the moose got distracted when the dog could barely be seen? The man dodged out of the moose's way and the moose just kinda stopped for a second, he could have easily just gone between the narrow path in the cars and back inside. I also don't really understand how a moose could have gotten so easily into the middle of the neighborhood like that, aren't they extremely dangerous, especially for children? I'd expect Canada to have some system to stop that from happening

I just saw a moose at my place this morning! There are a lot of them around here (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) and I've encountered quite a few over the years. Usually no problem but can be very dangerous - especially bulls in rut in the fall and cows with calves in the early summer. The one in the video is a female - you can tell by the white patch on her rump. I once saw a cow with a calf chase off a huge bull moose - even bull moose don't mess with mama.
